Helen first approached me with a basic brief, which would involve ‘food & fizz’ but also include something ‘a bit more interesting, which people would enjoy taking part in’.
So after a quick exchange of ideas, we settled on a 20’s themed night with dancing and a film! The Little Theatre in Nairn is a fantastic venue (and is available for any private hire) with facilities for eating, performing and watching a movie…
All the girls (including two extra special ladies who came to join in the dance fun) arrived in all their splendour, wearing beautiful flapper dresses, feather boas and headpieces.
On their arrival, the girls enjoyed a glass of prosecco (or a soft drink!) and popcorn (you must try the dark chocolate and strawberry flavour – delicious!) before moving through to the main auditorium for a 20’s inspired dance class. The Little Theatre has a lovely atmosphere, so no need to worry about stage fright. Jennifer from Toe 2 Toe Dance put them through their paces with a dance lesson before they took to the stage on their own – they were fab!
Exercise done for the night and in need of sustenance, we enjoyed the tastiest fish and chips from the Dolphin Chippy in Nairn, served in the foyer with more fizz and bubbles 🙂
By 8pm, the girls were suitably relaxed and ready to settle down and watch their movie of choice, ‘The Great Gatsby’. Starring the very talented Leonardo DiCaprio, alongside more greats such as Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Isla Fisher, it was a first-time watch for a few of the girls who loved every moment of it. We even stopped for an ice-cream interval (and to top up their glasses of course…) before catching the second half of the film.
And then it was time to go home (or go out… I don’t think the night ended there). Thank you Helen and friends, I hope you had a fantastic time!
